About Us

Welcome to For The Village – a safe space for those who are in need of doula and birth services in the San Diego area.

About Us

For The Village was established in January 2018 by doula and activist, Sabia Wade. FTV provides free and low cost doula services and education in San Diego County for all individuals/families with an emphasis on marginalized groups, such as people of color, LGBTQIA and low income individuals and families.

Meet Our Founder

Sabia is a Black, Queer, CEO with a mission of building bridges for a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable world through Reproductive Justice, distribution of financial wealth to BIPOC communities, and investing in emergent and innovative businesses. Sabia founded FTV after quitting her job and becoming a full time doula.

From 2015-2017, Sabia was a volunteer full spectrum doula for The Prison Birth Project. In February 2018, Sabia quit her job and became a full time doula in San Diego, CA. In April 2018, Sabia started For The Village, which provides low income and marginalized people access to free and low cost doula services. In 2019, Sabia launched Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings and here we are now!

Fun Fact: Sabia’s dog, Cairo, is her world.
