In the United States, black infants are dying at 2 to 3 times the rate of white infants. Black mothers are also dying at 3 to 4 times the rate of white mothers. This is a crisis that needs to be addressed through all levels of the community, education and healthcare systems.
Sabia C. Wade, founder of For The Village, presenting about the black infant mortality rate at San Diego City College’s 4th Annual Social Justice Conference
For The Village has joined the mission to improve black maternal health in the United States by not only providing doula care but also offering education to members of the community, education and health care systems about the black maternal health crisis and ways to improve the current health outcomes.
